Welcome to This Is Me Iowa

I want to thank you for checking out This Is Me Iowa! This website is in it's infancy and we are just getting started putting all of the websites content on for you to enjoy.

I would like to take the time to share some things about myself. My name is Sarah Cosley (Fisher) and I am one of the creators of this page. I was raised in Dubuque, IA and lived in Iowa City, IA for 8 yrs. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work and Dance and a minor in Sociology from the University of Iowa. I have five years of experience working directly with adults and children with disabilities. I identify as bisexual and have been active in advocating for the the LGBTQ community for about 7 yrs now both in a personal and public capacity.
Most recently, I became a commissioner of the Dubuque, IA Human Rights Commission in the fall of 2015.

This website was born out of a need to help the transgender community navigate a complex system that is often overwhelming, exhausting, and confusing. With this site I hope to connect those that fall anywhere along the spectrum of their journey as being transgendered with resources more specifically in the Midwest. I hope that this site can be a safe space where people can ask questions and receive answers. I want my blog to be informational and inspirational. There is a link on here to organizations that desperately need your financial support in order to continue working towards equality for the LGBTQ community. With all of the challenging things the current presidential administration is putting forth, these organizations will be doing a lot of challenging work such as lobbying, protesting, and crisis support work which all require resources to keep them going.

I will be adding the actual transgender symbol to the front of the page sometime this week so please be patient! There is more content to be added as well! There is a lot out there
and I try to add a little bit everyday so I do not get overwhelmed. Thanks everyone.
